This short program offers you the opportunity to discover the desert with a night’s bivouac in the magnificent dune massif of Erg Chegaga, the largest (40 km long, 15 km wide) and the wildest in the Moroccan desert with dunes culminating at nearly 300 m in height. This desert being less frequented because of its difficult access, only in 4×4, on foot or on camel back, you will have an authentic experience of the desert with your native guides of this region.
Itinerary
Day 1
Foum-Zguid-Erg Chegaga Pick-up at Foum Zguid and departure by 4×4 along the track towards the large dunes of Chegaga in Iriki National Park. On your arrival, after about 2h30 on the track, you will set off on the back of a camel for a ride to the top of the ridges to admire the splendid sunset over the sea of sand. You will spend a convivial evening around the campfire with a typical dinner of the region and you will be able to contemplate the starry sky which sparkles with a thousand lights like nowhere else. Then you will fall asleep in nomadic tents in the magical and serene silence of the Sahara.
Day 2
After a gentle awakening, the early risers will admire the sunrise over the dunes. After a hearty breakfast we will resume the track towards Foum Zguid admiring the varied landscapes, such as the sand dunes, the stone desert and the tabular mountains hundreds of thousands of years old.
